Four 9th grade students from Rocky Grove Junior-Senior High School were recognized for awards won at Edinboro University’s annual Technology Challenge in November 2017. Alexis Chambers received second place in the oral presentation portion of the challenge. Grace Beach was awarded third place in the technical drawing portion. Matalyn Diven placed third in the CO2 race car event. Annabell Hawkins received third place in the presentation and craftsmanship portions of the challenge. The students were advised by technology teacher Kristopher Lowry.
Keirstin Gregory, tenth grade student at Rocky Grove Junior-Senior High School, will be recognized for representing Rocky Grove Junior-Senior High School and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston, MA in June 2017.
Anna Rodgers, third grade student at Valley Grove Elementary School, will be recognized for first place finishes at local gymnastics meets in Meadville and Franklin.
Emma Trinch, sixth grade student at Valley Grove Elementary School, who was recognized at the November board meeting but unable to attend, will be in attendance to complete the recognition process for her accomplishments in gymnastics.
Reece Henderson, 8th grade student at Rocky Grove Junior-Senior High School, Carson “Chippy” Whitling, 6th grade student at Valley Grove Elementary School, and Caylee Henderson, 3rd grade student at Valley Grove Elementary School finished first in their age groups at the Elks Local Soccer Shoot Out competition held in Titusville on September 23rd. They competed in the finals at Penn State on November 5th.
Charlie Snyder, 4th grade student at Valley Grove Elementary School, received awards in Western Grooming and Showmanship: 4th in Districts (Crawford County Fair) and Top 30 in States (Harrisburg).
Keirstin Gregory, 10th grade student at Rocky Grove Junior-Senior High School, received an Award for Excellence for attending the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston in June, representing Pennsylvania and Rocky Grove.
Emma Trinch, 6th grade student at Valley Grove Elementary School, received 1st place at the Franklin gymnastics meet on October 14 and took 3rd place at the Titusville gymnastics meet on October 28th.
Ben Barrett will be recognized for his successful grant writing work. Mr. Barret applied for and received the Central Electric Cooperative Grant. The $1,000 grant will be used to purchase six K’NEX Renewable Energy Kits which will be used as part of the students’ STEM curriculum.
Janel Prinkey will be recognized for her contribution to the book Thinking Like a Teacher: Preparing New Teachers for Today’s Classrooms, in which her photo was also featured on the book’s cover. Ms. Prinkey also completed a successful funding campaign in order to provide her students with a more comprehensive classroom library of books. .
Julian Johnson, Valley Grove Elementary School fourth grade student, was recognized for receiving 2nd place at the 2017 Pennsylvania Youth Stone Skipping Championship.
